More than two dozen WLAN companies formed an industry coalition to submit a copy of their next-generation WLAN standard, 802.11n, to the IEEE. On October 10, the Enhanced Wireless Consortium (EWC) Association announced that they will break the current deadlock and accelerate the development of the 802.11n standard. The 27 members of the EWC include large Wi-Fi providers such as Atheros, Broadcom, Cisco and Intel, but the most important MIMO provider, Airgo, is out of the list.
