1958年4月10日至14日楚雄地区第一届人民代表大会第一次会议召开。4月15日正式成立楚雄彝族自治州,行政区域为原楚雄专区所属辖区,首府驻楚雄县鹿城。
April 19, 1958 Chuxiong region first people's congress the first meeting. On April 15, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture was formally established. Its administrative area is under the jurisdiction of the former Chuxiong prefecture and its capital is in Lucheng, Chuxiong County.
