吴宪博士(1893—1959年)是国际著名生物化学家、中国近代生物化学事业的开拓者和奠基人。他一生共发表163篇研究论文,3部专著,在该学科的临床化学、气体与电解质的平衡、蛋白质化学、免疫化学、营养学以及氨基酸代谢等6个领域的研究居当时国际前沿地位,并为中国科学事业的建立和早期发展做了许多工作。此外,他还热爱生活,是位博学多才、兴趣广泛的学者,在他身上,东西方文化中的长处完美、和谐地融为一体。
Dr. Wu Xian (1893-1959) is an internationally renowned biochemist and a pioneer and founder of biochemistry in modern China. A total of 163 research papers and 3 monographs were published in his lifetime, occupying a leading international position in six fields of clinical chemistry, gas and electrolyte balance, protein chemistry, immunochemistry, nutrition and amino acid metabolism, etc. Much has been done for the establishment and early development of the cause of science in China. In addition, he also loves life and is an erudite and widely-interested scholar. On him, the strengths of Eastern and Western cultures are perfectly and harmoniously integrated.
