在我们国家的建桥工程中,广泛采用着钢筋混凝土柔性结构的构件,通天柱式的桥墩就是其中的一种,而在设计此种结构物时,首先就得考虑稳定性的问题。在计算通天柱式桥墩的纵向稳定性时,在许多情况下是不可能利用现行规程的。(现行规程CH 365-67)。这是因为在现行规范的标准情况中,不考虑结构物顶部和底部截面的弹性连接情况,而这种情况却是柔性结构中特有的性质。在计算通天柱式桥墩的纵向稳定性时,不仅要考虑桥墩与全桥所有构件的共同作用,还应考虑桥渡范围的土壤情况。这样考虑问题的方法,才能做到重视桥墩的实际边界条件,而桥墩的实际边界条件是由结构特点来确定的:
