It has been 30 years since the national college entrance examination was resumed in 1977. As the submitter of the proposal, Fan Yi, dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Ningbo University, has received much attention from the society. . During the deliberations on behalf of the proposal, supporters and opponents of the proposal launched a fierce debate through various channels. The Minister of Education Zhou Ji and the former Deputy Minister of Education Zhang Baoqing also answered publicly on the issues involved in the proposal. People who stood up against the college entrance examination, Fan Yi was not the first one. As early as 2005, Huang Quanyue, a Chinese scholar of Chinese in the United States, wrote an article calling for the abolition of the college entrance examination enrollment system. The author of the book “The National College Entrance Examination in the United States” believes that the current Chinese college entrance examination basically follows the traditional examination system. In his eyes, the college entrance examination system of “not counting people” has led to the emergence of many first-rate materials that can be made into advanced education.... Some people’s clamour for the college entrance examination system may be just for the reform of the college entrance examination. A well-intentioned spur, but the resulting debate on the retention, abolition, or reform of the college entrance examination will continue to go deeper...
