Laser technology continues to widen the power of biological microscopes. In Chicago, researchers at Zenith Radio recorded the cell structure of onion scallops from acoustical holograms, which is said to be the first time that cellular structures were recorded by acoustic microscopy. At Yale University, a scanning laser system enables one to observe the opacity of embedded brain cells
