墨脱曾经是全中国最后一个不通公路的县城。墨脱的西、北、东三面被喜马拉雅山与岗日嘎布山阻隔,加上雅鲁藏布大峡谷以及帕龙藏布峡谷从一侧分割,从而使道路无法通行。从今天起,“孤岛”墨脱要“改名”了!2013年10月31日上午,中国交通部“十一五”规划中提出的,全国公路网的最后一条路——墨脱公路正式通车,这朵“隐秘的莲花”向世人绽放出最美的容颜。这是中国公路建设史上的一个里程碑,堪称历史性的一刻,对于整个中国国道网的构筑意义重大。
