大麦是盐城市主要夏粮作物，也是广大农村的传统作物类型，在全市粮食生产中占有较大的比重，尤其是啤酒大麦的生产在本市有其独持生态、地理条件，也是全国最大啤麦生产基地之一，曾经一度作为部分县（市）一大商品优势项目，对搞活农村经济，增加农民收入，发挥了巨大的作用
