In the last 40 years, Latin America has experienced three major crises. The first was the socio-political crisis from the 1960s to the mid-1970s; the second was the debt crisis of the 1980s; and the third was the financial crisis of the 1990s. Every crisis has swallowed a large number of countries in the region. How do these crises occur? How should we look at the frequent occurrence of such economic and social crises? With these questions, we interviewed Professor Su Zhenxing, a member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Latin American Institute. Here is his conversation with our correspondents.
