黄自是我国“五四”新文化运动以来一位具有民主倾向的音乐家。一九○四年出生在江苏川沙县一个封建官吏的家庭中。他的小学生活是在上海渡过的。一九一六年进入北京清华学校,课余向私人教师学习钢琴、和声。一九二四年留学美国,进欧柏林大学心理学系。二八年从欧柏林大学转入耶鲁大学音乐系主修作曲。二九年黄自以他的第一部交响序曲《怀
Huang Zi is a democracy-oriented musician since the May 4th New Culture Movement in China. Born in 1904 in Chuansha County, Jiangsu Province, a feudal official’s family. His primary school life was spent in Shanghai. In 1916, he entered Tsinghua University in Beijing and studied piano and harmony with private teachers after class. In 1924 studying in the United States, into the University of Oberlin psychology department. In 28 years from Oberlin University Yale University Department of music majoring in composition. In 1999, Huang Zizhi took his first symphony as the prelude to “Huai.”
