The total mercury and mercury isotope ratio of peat profiles of red clayey with a spans of about 150a (210Pb) were measured by LUMEX915 and multi-receiver plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS) From the bottom to the surface, the δ (superscript 2 +) Hg isotope δ202Hg tended to decrease from the bottom to the surface, ranging from 16.7 to 101.3 ng / g and (-0.44 ‰ ± 0.14 ‰) to (-1.45 ‰ ± 0.22 ‰), respectively. The results show that the industrial revolution not only caused significant mercury pollution in the atmosphere of the study area, but also made the mercury isotope composition lighter. This indicates that the mercury isotopes emitted by human activities are different from the naturally-emitted mercury isotopes.
