颐和园是一座古老的博物馆式皇家园林,是中华民族宝贵的历史文化遗产,是弘扬祖国传统文化,进行爱国主义教育的重要场所。杰出的园林艺术价值,重要的历史科学价值,典雅的人文景观环境和优越的参观游览条件,是它所具备的基本功能。进入90年代,颐和园把贯彻“古为今用,推陈出新”,在完整地保护好颐和园的前提下,充分挖掘其文化内涵,合理利用其文化价值,完善提高各项管理工作,做为颐和园的基本任务。
The Summer Palace is an ancient museum-style imperial garden. It is a precious historical and cultural heritage of the Chinese nation and an important place for carrying forward the traditional culture of the motherland and patriotism education. Outstanding garden art value, important historical and scientific value, elegant humanistic landscape environment and excellent tour conditions are the basic functions it has. In the 90’s, under the precondition of complete protection of the Summer Palace, the Summer Palace fully implemented its mission of “using the ancient as the present and bringing forth new ideas to the outside world”, fully exploiting its cultural connotation, making rational use of its cultural value, improving and perfecting various management tasks as the summer palace.
