The New Yorker book review wrote that on September 29, 1993, President Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, GM, Chrysler and Ford CEO discussed cars in the White House Rose Garden. Clinton recalled his most precious asset: an ice-blue Ford Mustang convertible sports car produced in 1967. Clinton said: “I think every one of us has a car fanatical moment, and we have such a story today, we will work hard to uncover a new chapter in the history of American car fanaticism - to start an ambitious technical adventure . ”He explained that the goal of this venture was to develop attractive, universal vehicles that double fuel efficiency. But also safe, comfortable, renewable. Car manufacturers and the federal government will work together to develop the car - the government funding and existing military technology, and a decade later manufacturers will be able to produce a gallon of fuel that can travel eighty miles.
