应新加坡社会发展部之邀,以中央戏剧学院表演干部专修班为主组成的中国戏剧演出团,在新加坡艺术节演出了两部话剧——《桑树坪纪事》和《虎符》。我们的演出被安排在最后,用艺术节组织者的话说:“这是整个艺术节高潮的压轴节目。”6月23日,我们飞抵被称为“花园之国”的新加坡。热情的朋友把我们送到这里最高、最漂亮的维丝廷宾馆时,夜幕已经降临。热带岛国的景色是迷人的,但我们无暇观赏。稍事安顿,就赶赴剧场开箱、装台、对光。这是和来自世界17个国家的艺术家们竞相献艺的演出啊!
