1952年冬,郑州农校为了进行冬小麦春化处理工作,在没有低定温设备的情况下,曾设计了一个双壁圆筒式春化处理器。为了考验它对外界温度条件的关系,把设计的处理器,特放在一间临时的破砖瓦小房中,这间房子用最高最低温度计作了记录,日温度差曾从15℃降至-7℃,也曾连续在0℃下达5天。处理器的温度在有水有冰条件下,始终保持在0--2℃的定温;只有在找不到自然冰和全部冻实两种情况下才超越了0--2℃的范围。在1953年冬由于保证了用冰用水,温度已能较准确的掌握在2℃,顺利的进行
