当前我国号召每对夫妇只生一个孩子,因之对“独生子女”体质健壮,智力优良提出了更高要求,优生工作已列入重要议事日程。我国各大城市的许多医院已开设了优生和遗传咨询门诊。根据近年来的经验,咨询者多为孕妇。对孕妇作检查、产前诊断,如发现有病胎儿,即可及时终止妊娠,减少病儿出生。但是,这种措施毕竟是亡羊补牢,尚有不足之外。且目前产前诊断技术在国内有待发展,方法不多,检查面也不够广,更有许多人是未经咨询或不听从医生劝告的“漏网者”。因此提倡婚前检查是做好优生工作的第一步,把好婚前检查这一关可为未来减少许多个人与家庭的不幸、减少社会上的矛盾与负担。
