19世纪末．现代科学才刚刚萌芽,魔术还是广受大众喜爱、充满神奇色彩的一种“超能力”。当时的英国伦敦有两位最出名的魔术师:波顿(克里斯汀·贝尔饰)和安杰(休·杰克曼饰)。两人最初是好朋友,但因安杰的妻子在魔术表演中意外死亡而成为了针锋相对的仇家。为了赢得最优秀的魔术师的称号和更多观众的赞美,两人都倾尽全力想出各种花样和机关,设计出更新奇、更梦幻、更出人意料的魔术。这样竞争到了最后,两人似乎都已走火入魔,不仅冒险利用最先进的科学技术来创造新魔术,而且还对自己的竞争对手起了凶狠的杀心……
Late 19th century. Modern science has just begun to sprout, magic is widely loved by the public, full of magical colors of a “super power.” There were two of the most famous magicians in London at the time: Burton (Kristen Bell) and Angel (Hugh Jackman). The two were initially good friends, but became a tit-for-tat rival for Angel’s wife’s accidental death in a magic show. In order to win the title of the best magician and the appreciation of more spectators, both tried their best to come up with a variety of tricks and institutions to design more novel, more fantastic, more unexpected magic. At the end of this competition, both seemed to have taken a plunge and not only risked making use of state-of-the-art science and technology to create new magic but also fiercely killing their rivals ...
