2005年5月31日晚22时左右,湖南省新邵县龙山山脉突降暴雨,引发百年未遇的特大山洪灾害,造成了重大伤亡和巨大财产损失,截止6月7日下午6时,洪灾已造成62人死亡,26人失踪,初步估算,造成该县经济损失达12亿元。其中造成交通设施直接经济损失1809.85万元,冲毁公路挡土墙3.86万m~3,水毁土石方15.18万m~3,水毁公路路面10.3万m~2,涵洞103道计1140m、桥梁17座。6月10日下午,湖南省新邵灾区渔龙公路提前恢复通车。湖南省邵阳市委,市政府对公路部门不辱使命,在短短的7天时间内抢通这么严重的水毁公路感到非常满意。
