煆製石膏這一工作,在一般書籍上的記述極共簡單,但其實際煆製操作又非輕而易舉。在外科方面不斷需要燒石膏的情况下,就必要經常小量的自行煆製。初製煆製石膏時,多因缺乏經驗而遭到失敗。經過了一個時期實際的摸索,茲將我們煆製石膏的初步經驗寫出來,供作參考。將口徑80—90公分的鐵鍋先行洗净加熱,使鍋內水份完全蒸乾,稍頃,即將生石膏細粉二十五至四十公斤倒入鍋中,用鐵剷不斷翻攪,以保持鍋內各處石膏受熱均匀。在不同溫度和不同的時間即有下表所記的各種現象:
