Jilin Province is located on the eastern margin of the Eurasian Plate. Since the Mesozoic Era, Jilin Province has successively erupted two sets of volcanic rock assemblages that inherited and developed both in terms of magmatism and tectonic setting. The Mesozoic is a combination of basaltic-andesite-rhyolite assemblage of continental margin rift basin tectonic setting. Cenozoic is a basic olivine basaltic-tholeiitic-quartz trachyte assemblage with rift-rift tectonic setting on continental margins.
