油松是蒙山高海拔地区的主要造林树种。一九七一年在我场牛岚营林区角子洼油松林(海拔一千余公尺)内,首次发生了扁叶蜂的危害,随之与我场毗邻的天麻林场、大洼林场,以及相距三十余华里的蒙山林场龟蒙顶油松林都程度不同的相继发生。近年来,由于没注意防治,迅速蔓延,面积不断扩大,危害愈加严重,一株树上往往虫巢累累,有虫数百条,绝大部分针叶被食尽,仅剩下枝条残叶,望去犹如火烧、一片枯黄,严重影响油松的健壮生长。
