王文素,字尚彬,山西汾州(今汾阳市)人。是一位小商人出身的著名诗人数学家、珠算家。约生于公元1465年之前夕。明朝成化年间(1465-1487)随父经商,定居河北饶阳。自幼颖悟、涉猎书史、诸子百家无不知者,尤长于算法。他在十分艰苦的条件下,历经30余载,年近六旬时,终于撰写完成近50万言的数学巨著《新集通证古今算学宝鉴》42卷(后续诗词体算题300多个12卷,现已失散,加卷首图一卷,总共55卷)。
