词汇是语言的建筑材料,是语言的基础.要想掌握一门语言就必须学会一定数量的词汇.因此,人们常把学会多少词汇来作为衡量语言水准的一个重要标志.一般说来,掌握的词汇越多,运用语言的能力就越强,而掌握单词在往是学习英语时所遇到的一大难题.许多学生都感到尽管花费大量时间记单词,可总记得不扎实.这不仅是因为一些单词存在着拼法和读法的不一致性,以及英语词汇的多义性和习惯用法等,而且也因为学生没有很好地掌握和运用学习和记忆词汇的方法.所以,教师应根据学生中学习词汇时所遇到的问题,采用切实可行的教学方法,搞好词汇教学,从而提高学生学习词汇的效率.
