From the Passenger Rams on the Amazon River, it traced 1,700 kilometers to the Manaus Free Trade Zone in northern Brazil. Manaus was originally a poor small city with a population of less than 300,000. After the free trade zone was established, Manaus became one of the fastest growing cities in Brazil and now has a population of over 800,000. Unlike the free trade zones in some countries, the Free Zone in Manaus is not close to the border nor near the coast, but in the hinterland of Brazil, the capital of Amazonas. This area belongs to West Amazonas, including the Amazonas, Acrirgans, Rondônia and Roraimas, and covers an area of about 2.2 million square kilometers, accounting for 26% of Brazil’s total area.
