偏堡文化以沈阳新民偏堡沙岗遗址的发现命名,其陶器以红褐色夹砂陶为主,杂以云母、滑石等颗粒,手制,器型规整,器物群主体由叠唇罐、深腹罐、直腹罐和壶、钵组成。目前已经发现的典型偏堡文化遗址主要有新民县偏堡子、高台山,沈阳新乐、肇工街,瓦房店长兴岛三堂遗址,交流岛蛤皮地遗址和西阳乡猴山遗址等。受其影响的窄条堆纹装饰等在大连市郭家村遗址、大连市大潘家村遗址、大连小珠山遗址、内蒙古奈曼旗大沁他拉遗址、内蒙古扎鲁特旗南宝力皋吐遗址、本溪满族自治县马城子洞穴遗址、岫岩北沟西山遗址、丹东石佛山遗址均有分布。可见其分布范围之广泛,影响之大。虽然偏堡文化的发现已经有50余年的历史,但是一直以来受遗址点堆积较薄、遗
