本文对华莱士·肖恩的剧作《丹婶婶和莱蒙》的主题进行了剖析。作为较有争议的美国当代剧作家 ,肖恩的创作总是围绕道德这个主题 ,并对人们生活中习以为常的许多价值观如“同情心”等 ,提出了大胆的质疑。在这部剧中 ,肖恩通过主人公莱蒙少年时期在丹的影响下所受的道德教育 ,探讨了个人的道德观是如何同整个社会的政治生活紧密联系在一起的。通过莱蒙的被扭曲的成长经历 ,肖恩委婉地批评了美国的右翼思潮。
This article analyzes the theme of Wallace Shawn’s play “Auntie Dan and Lemmon”. As a controversial American contemporary playwright, Sean’s writing always revolves around the theme of morality and raises a bold question about many values that are commonplace in people’s lives, such as “compassion.” In this drama, Sean explores how personal morality is closely linked with the political life of the entire society through the moral education under the influence of Dan, a protagonist during his youth. Sean euphemistically criticized the right-wing thinking of the United States through Lemmon’s distorted growth.
