在802.16/802.16a协议定义的无线宽带接入系统的基础上,IEEE 802.16工作小组新近提出了支持终端移动性的技术方案,定为802.16e协议,旨在移动环境下同时支持话音、多媒体和高速数据等业务,构筑一个高效、柔性、集成、基于IP的通信环境,支持对Internet或企业内联网透明的接入。802.16e不但要解决移动等技术问题,同时要考虑与原有的协议的前向兼容性。该工作小组计划在未来几年内提交5个标准。与此同时,另外一个IEEE工作小组也提出了移动宽带无线接入(MBWA,Mobile Broadband Wireless Access)的方案,将以无线宽带接入方式支持更高速率的移动终端,其技术方案定为802.20协议。802.16/802.16a已被证明其技术的可行性并得到极大关注,本文将主要探讨基于802.16/802.16a协议的移动性解决方案。
