[Objective]To observe the effect that extracting solution of radix euphorbiae lantu has on the proliferation and apoptosis of K562 cell lines. [Methods] The growth inhibition ratio of the extracting solution of Euphorbia fischeriana Steud. on K562 cell line was determined by MTT. Apoptosis and its morphology were observed by Hoechst fluorescence staining. Changes of cell membrane potential and cell cycle were detected by FCM after treated with extracting solution of Euphorbia fischeriana Steud. [Results]The extracting solution of Euphorbia fischeriana Steud. had significant inhibiting effect on the growth of K562 cell line. Observed by fluorescence microscope,we found that the extracting solution of Euphorbia fischeriana Steud. could change the morphology of K562 cell. The mitochondrial transmembrane potential( △ψm) lowered and the number of cells in G0/ G1phase increased significantly which were detected by FCM. [Conclusions] The extracting solution of Euphorbia fischeriana Steud. could promote the apoptosis of K562 cell line and inhibit its growth by changing the cell cycle.
