稠油是一种非常黏稠极易凝固的石油,在地层高温高压条件下流动性良好,但在井筒举升过程中随着温度和压力的降低,达到3000米左右时就失去了流动性,温度低于80摄氏度时,就变成了沥青状的固体。塔河油田稠油探明储量高达6亿吨,而且多埋藏在5000米以下,属于世界性的开采难题。2001年起,中石化西北油田分公司采用自主创新形成的以掺稀油降黏工艺为主、化学降黏工艺为辅的稠油降黏工艺
