罗马尼亚“8.23”机车厂制造的第一批119型液力传动内燃机车于1977年交付给东德铁路,并投入运营。由于双方签定了长期的合同,东德铁路在这段时间里陆续接收了这种型号的其它机车。119型内燃机车备有两套功率传递装置,装用 V 形12缸 M820SR 型直喷式柴油机,每台柴油机的功率为1040千瓦(1350马力),转速为1500转/分。计划用东德生产的12KVD21AL-4型柴油机来替换上述柴油机,当机车临到大修或维修时,就在威廉·皮克修理厂改装这种柴油机及其部件和机组。
The first 119-type hydraulic transmission diesel locomotive manufactured by Romania’s “8.23” locomotive factory was delivered to the East German Railway in 1977 and put into operation. As the two sides signed a long-term contract, East Germany Railway received one after another this type of other locomotives during this time. The 119 diesel locomotive is equipped with two power transmission units fitted with V-shaped 12-cylinder M820SR direct-injection diesel engines, each with a power of 1,040 kW (1,350 hp) and a speed of 1,500 rpm. The diesel engine is planned to be replaced by a 12KVD21AL-4 diesel engine manufactured by East German and will be retrofitted to the William Pique garage when it comes to overhauling or repairing a diesel engine.
