在国家非物质文化遗产名录中的项目中,大多数是以艺术的名义来确立的,而这些项目的评审也往往是按艺术来分类的,所有的非物质文化遗产的传承人也基本是民间艺人。因此,在非物质文化遗产保护的过程中,我们有必要认识艺术和非物质文化遗产之间有着什么样的关系,实质上就是在传统的农业文明中,艺术与其文化之间的关系,还有传承这些艺术的人,他们在自己的文化中的地位与身份,在农村的民间社会没有艺术家这样的称呼,所谓的民间艺人和民间艺术家,是我们这些外来者给予他们的称呼,如果我们把他们还原到他们的文化中,又该如何确定他们的位置。而这一研究需要用田野的方式来完成,因此,艺术田野的工作方法,尤其值得探讨。
