天津市保安服务总公司铁路分公司于１９８８年９月组建，多年来，在公安机关的统一领导和管理下，严格遵循“安全第一、信誉为重”的服务宗旨，积极探索铁路保安服务发展模式，使公司的服务领域不断扩大，服务层次逐步提高，保安员队伍不断壮大。目前公司已经拥有保安员７００多名，固定资金及积累资金８００多万元，多次被天津市公安局、北京铁路局、天津铁路分局评为先进单位。２０００年，该公司还被公安部、全国总工会、共青团中央联合授予“首届全国先进保安服务公司”称号。现本刊刊发《安全服务赢取双效益》一文，愿能给各地服务于铁路系统的保安公司提供一些值得借鉴的经验。
