唯物史观是“唯一的科学的历史观”。作为史学研究的一个分支,方志学研究无疑要以其为重要指南,志书编纂同样如此,这是方志最重要的政治意识。唯物史观的传统基石和当代视野既是地方志事业发展的前提和原则,又为志书编纂确立了基准和边限,而通志编纂中所要关注的几个着力点,则是唯物史观指导下方志政治意识的具体表现。
