茶叶位居世界三大饮料之首,其栽培、制作、饮用均始于中国。追本溯源,中国乃至世界茶树的始祖,又都源于云贵高原那高耸的群山和深幽的河谷。以集散中心和原产地之一普洱命名的普洱茶,其历史产区分布于今思茅和西双版纳的澜沧江流域,资料显示,这一带已发现29处野生茶树群落,总面积约7万亩,其中最大一株茶树树龄约2600年;1991年3月,在澜沧县富东乡邦崴村发现一株世界最大的过渡型千年古茶树。据普洱县县长介绍:普洱茶“兴于东汉,商于唐,始盛于宋,定型于明,繁荣于清衰于清,复兴于建国后80年代末。”

According Puer County magistrate introduced: Pu’er tea "was rejuvenated in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Shang in the Tang, Sheng flourished in the Song Dynasty, stereotypes in the Ming, prosperity in the Qing Dynasty, revival in the late 1980s.
