“The World without Map” is the second novel written by Eugenio Beuti, the Malaysian Chinese writer for English travel. In the background of Indonesia, it describes the political situation in Southeast Asia and the environment of a multi-ethnic nation in the 1960s. While getting rid of colonial rule, Southeast Asian countries have plunged into a crossroads of seeking national identity and founding a nation. Men and women from Europe and the United States embarked on intricate emotional entanglements with local youth, eventually choosing to escape to a world of no race distinction. The novel explores the possibility of multiple coexistence in Southeast Asia, and narrates the propositions of “history ”, which fully demonstrates Ou’da Xu’s ideas and attempts to historical narration in Southeast Asia.
