声遥堂书铺的匾额是乾隆朝进士纪晓岚题的,这事儿说来话长。纪晓岚去琉璃厂逛书铺,头一家就奔琉璃厂东门外的声遥堂。他在买好书后,想给声遥堂掌柜的一个意外之喜,就让声遥堂的徒弟给研墨,他放下烟袋,拿起大抓笔,写下了笔酣墨饱、十分气派的“声遥堂”三个大字,他又换了支小号笔,用行楷落款:纪晓岚。掌柜的一见大喜,赶紧找琉璃厂的刻匾名匠,制作了一块黑漆底金字的纪晓岚题写的
