在众多的养生法中,“低温长寿说”已被越来越多的人认可。一些学者甚至预言,低温保健将成为21世纪的时尚养生法。家蝇试验引发一段长寿经低温长寿说认为,生命活动是遵循“生命能”消耗规律而运作的,即“生命”在人体内是有限的、消耗越多,寿命越短,随着“生命能”的耗竭,生命也就此结束。由此认为,想要减少生命能的消耗,在低温环境下生活便是有效的方法之一。德国马尔堡大学的研究者对家蝇的低温生存试验证明,一只家蝇在18℃的温度环境下能成活150岁的话,那么它在280℃的温度环境下只能生存70岁。家蝇的长寿经在动物中反映着普遍的生存规律,人类也不例外。
