雕塑创作无论从构图的形式上和表现方法上,甚至在采用什么材质上都应为创作主题内容服务。《入城之夜》在材质的选择上,我是经过一番思索的。开始我想采用煤精雕刻,有燃烧自己、把温暖给予别人的含意,以此来借喻我人民解放军经过几十年艰苦卓绝的斗争,为人民争得自由与解放的伟大精神。但最后还是决定铸成青铜,目的是想以青铜庄重的份量感着力表现人民解放军的坚强性格,以及任劳任怨、大公无私的胸怀,并突出青铜材质自身的美感,从中灌注自己的主观感情。在形式上没去特意追求什么奇异的构图、新颖的表现方法以及所谓作家的风格。当然,这些在雕塑
