东史郎1937年应召入伍,侵华战争期间,他用日记把自己的所见所闻详细地记录下来,共有5卷37万字。1987年,东史郎在日本京都的和平展览会上,公布了他的战时日记,其中包括记录当年南京大屠杀情景的材料。同年12月,他以《我们的南京步兵队——一个召集兵体验的南京大屠杀》为题,将日记节选后交青木书店公开出版,在日本国内外产生较大反响,同时遭到日本右翼势力的嫉恨。为了把历史的真实告诉世人,1998年3月东史郎第四次赴南京将他的战时日记、勋章和军旗捐赠给便华日军南京大屠杀遇难同胞纪念馆,并授权江苏教育出版社出版《东史郎日记》中文版。
Shi Lang in 1937 called for the army, during the war of aggression against China, he used his diary to see what he saw and heard in detail, a total of 5 volumes 370,000 words. In 1987, Shihiro published his wartime diary at the Peace Exhibition in Kyoto, Japan, including materials recording the scenes of the Nanjing massacre of that year. In the same year in December, he published the diary excerpt in the Aoki Bookstore in the name of “Our Nanjing Infantry Brigade, a Nanjing Massacre Experienced by Convoys”, which produced great repercussions both at home and abroad in Japan. At the same time, he was summoned to Japan’s right wing Jealousy forces. In order to tell the world the truth of history, in March 1998, Shiro Shih went to Nanjing for his fourth visit to donate his wartime diary, medal and military flag to the Memorial Hall of the Victims of Massacre in Nanjing, China, and authorized Jiangsu Education Publishing House to publish “East Shi Lang diary ”Chinese version.
