西班牙华人鞋业协会是在去年9月16日发生的“烧鞋事件”的烈火中诞生的。不法分子火烧货柜和仓库的事件发生之前,针对华人鞋商的口号、标语已时有出现。9月16日,事情发展到了顶点,给华人鞋商造成了重大的经济损失。五、六年前,在西班牙埃尔切市只有一两个华商从事少量的鞋类进口,三年前,也不过发展到10家左右。但是近三年中,华人鞋商已经猛增到近80家,经营规模也迅速扩大。历史上,埃尔切市西班牙人的制鞋业是属于中档和中低档的,因此,他们的鞋类产品很自然的与华人鞋商的产品发生了冲突。近几年中,由于中国人造革工业的进一步发展、制鞋工业的现代化程度的提高和规模的扩大,加上廉价的劳动力,使得中国鞋具备了物美价廉的特点,在西班牙的低消费市场大受欢迎。同时,较大地冲击了当地鞋类传统的生产和销售,使一些小型制鞋工厂倒闭,工人失业,有些西班牙工厂主从生产商转变为进口中国鞋的批发商。这一切,使各地以传统制鞋业为生的企业主和工人们感受到了前所
