This article describes the experimental amplitude and phase measurements of radar echoes from two types of chaff, the chaff following the aircraft on the mission (the chaff just put) and the other after the aircraft leaves the Area after the foil (expanded foil). Ultra-high frequency and X-band coherent radars can be used to obtain experimental data for chaff devices and discrete chaff devices that are continuously deployed. The average radiation velocity v_0 and the velocity standard deviation σ_v of the chaff cloud can be estimated based on the complex envelope spectral density estimation. For expanded foil strips, the σ_v values range from 0.3 to 1.2 m / s. For the chaff just put, both σ_v and v_0 depend on the position of the chaff in the wake. At 150 meters behind the aircraft, σ_v varies from 2.0 to 2.7 m / s; at 450 m, σ_v varies from 0.8 to 1.5 m / s. It has been found that there is no obvious relationship between the size of σ_v and the radar frequency or chaff type. This paper derives an expression that shows the effect of a conical scan on the spectral envelope of the complex envelope.
