Dr.Alessandre Fiocchi and colleagues at Melloni Hospital in Milan, Italy, noticed that it had been previously reported that children allergic to milk were able to consume lactose and cause adverse reactions. It is unclear whether this phenomenon is caused by the inclusion of milk protein impurities in lactose.
