说明1940年是中国抗战最为艰苦的年头。是年7月初法国在越南的殖民当局在日本的压力下切断滇越铁路,并陆续关闭中越间的各条公路。7月16日英国也在日本的压力下宣布关闭滇缅公路三个月。中国由此失去了对其抗战至为重要的西南国际交通线。与此同时,苏联与日本行将妥协之说,甚器尘上,西北国际交通线能否维持也成为未知数。
This shows that 1940 was the most difficult year for China in its war of resistance. At the beginning of July of this year, French colonial authorities in Vietnam cut off the Vietnam-Vietnam Railway under the pressure of Japan and gradually closed various roads between China and Vietnam. July 16 Britain also announced the closure of the Burma Road for three months under the pressure of Japan.
