1938年冬天,罗荣桓同志奉命率一一五师主力向山东进军。罗荣桓的第一个孩子,就是在东进路上生的,所以取名东进。罗东进出生以后,就在挑筐里和马背上,长途跋涉到了山东。到山东后,罗荣桓担任了一一五师政治委员。当时环境很艰苦,带一个婴儿行军作战太不方便。罗荣桓和林月琴(妻子)商量好,把孩子寄养在老乡家里,直到东进5岁,环境比较稳定了,才从老乡家里接回来。
