On July 23, 1984, a refinery worker near Chicago, United States, discovered a pressure vessel leak when removing hydrogen sulfide from propane and butane using amine absorption. Fifteen minutes later, a catastrophic explosion took place. 15-meter-high container burst, 2 meters at the top of the rocket rose to heaven, up to more than half a kilometer, and ignited a raging fire. The accident left 17 dead bodies and more wounded, losing $ 100 million. A study by the National Bureau of Standards of the United States conducted a comprehensive anatomical analysis of the wreckage of the container and concluded that the explosion was caused by a chemical event.
