端午节是我国传统节日,为每年农历五月初五,又称端阳节、午日节、五月节、五日节、艾节、端五、重午、午日、夏节。为纪念战国时代伟大的爱国诗人屈原,每年的这一天,人们都要举行相关活动,表达对他的怀念之情。划龙舟、包粽子、插艾蒿、挂菖蒲等生动活泼、情趣盎然的端午节习俗活动,使端午节成为蕴涵独特民族精神和丰富文化内涵的传统节日和湖北非物质文化遗产宝库中绚烂迷人的瑰宝。
