Objective To analyze the cases of tropical periodicals and their published articles included in SCI, and provide references for researchers and journal workers in tropical medicine and related disciplines. Methods Using the Science Citation Index Expanded database and the Journal Citation Report (JCR) in the Web of Science database as a data source. The statistical analysis of the statistics of all the journals in the field of Tropical Medicine from the JCR analysis report in 1997 to 2015 was carried out. Meanwhile, the journal ISSN was used as the search criteria to analyze all the papers published in all journals in that period. Results Since the JCR report was published in 1997, SCI has collected 28 tropical journals. At present, the number of tropical journals included in the SCI is basically stable at around 20, while the number of journals is increasing year by year. The publication period of these journals The bimonthly journal has the most bibliographies (11), publishing languages mainly in English. The influential factors in the collection of periodical journals in the tropical medicine show a steady upward trend, which is currently around 2.0. 42.1% (8/19) journals have adopted the Open Access 35.09% (14 062/40 076) of all cited citations were open access; the top 3 most published papers in the journal of tropical medicine were the United States, Brazil and the United Kingdom, with China ranked at No. 12; There are three subjects in the Tropical Medicine and Public environmental occupational health, Parasitology and INFECTIOUS DISEASES, while the other three subjects are the major indicators of measurement than tropical medicine. Conclusions The development of tropical periodicals has been steady. The field of tropical medicine research has shown a certain degree of enthusiasm in recent years. However, the development of tropical periodicals remains to be strengthened.
