本文以《现代汉语词典》《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》和《汉英词典》中收录的拟声词为比较对象,探讨《汉英词典》中汉语拟声词的英译词在词类归属、释义和汉语配例英译等方面存在的问题。研究表明:《汉英词典》中汉语拟声词的绝大多数英译词与《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》中对应的拟声词的词类归属不符,词目词的英译存在释义重复、释义过泛、释义过窄和误释等问题;汉语配例对应的英译句中拟声词的句法功能处理不当等。针对每类问题,我们都讨论了具体的解决方法,以期为《汉英词典》再版改进提供借鉴。
This article compares the onomatopoeia included in Modern Chinese Dictionary, Oxford Advanced English-Chinese Dictionary and Chinese-English Dictionary to discuss the relationship between Chinese-English transliteration of Chinese onomatopoeia in the Chinese-English Dictionary , Interpretations and Chinese translation of the example of the problems. The results show that most English translations of onomatopoeia in Chinese-English Dictionary do not correspond to the part-of-speech of onomatopoeia in Oxford Advanced English-Chinese Bilingual Dictionary, , Over-interpretation, narrow interpretation and misinterpretation. The syntactic function of the onomatopoeia in the English version of Chinese collocation was improperly handled. For each type of problem, we have discussed the specific solutions, with a view to provide reference for the improvement of the “Chinese-English Dictionary”.
