阅读是有效提高学生语文素养的基础。大量阅读可以促使学生获得整体的阅读经验和情感体验。学生通过对文本的推敲、感悟、反思,感受文本内涵和语言的魅力,从而使学生充分感受到语文的魅力,亲近语文,热爱语文,使母语文化能够渗透到学生的人格中去,成为他们精神成长的养料。阅读理解能力的高低将影响和制约着一个人的听、说、读、写几个方面能力的形成和发展,同时也是学生综合能力发展水平的重要标志之一。因此,能否通过广泛的阅读提高自身的语文素养,将直接关系到我们对语文的学习。就像莎士比亚所说“:生活里没有书籍,就好像世界没有阳光;智慧里没有书籍,就好像鸟儿没有翅膀。”
