“Protecting a group of historical and cultural cities has a positive significance for inheriting a long-standing cultural heritage, carrying forward the glorious revolutionary tradition, conducting patriotic education, building socialist spiritual civilization, and expanding China’s international influence.” This was February last year. The State Council has approved the significance of protection in the notification issued by the State Construction Commission and other departments on the protection of China’s historical and cultural cities. We believe that this is a new development in cultural relics protection.
